Aida Mujkić is a medical doctor, a specialist in pediatrics. She graduated from the Medical School of the University of Zagreb in 1983. She also completed her postgraduate courses in Biology-Biomedicine in 1987 and Clinical Pediatrics in 1992.She finished her specialization of pediatrics in 1993. She completed her doctoral thesis in 2001. She worked as an intern in the general hospital, and after that at the Medical School of the University of Zagreb as a young assistant. She then worked as the resident of pediatrics at the Clinical Hospital Centre. For one year she worked as a pediatrician in primary health care at a health centre. From 1996 onwards she worked again at the Andrija Štampar School of Public Health, of the University of Zagreb Medical School. The focus of her scientific and professional work is the field of social pediatrics, namely safety promotion and injury prevention in children. During her work she has worked as the pediatric resident at the clinical hospital centre and as a pediatrician in primary health care. Dr. Mujkić has been involved in various scientific and professional projects, such as: "Prevention of war injuries among children in Croatia" (in cooperation with the Norwegian Institute of Public Health), "Hygiene and health education" (UNICEF project), "Education of community nurses regarding courses for expecting parents" (Zagreb healthy city project) and so on. Since 2006 Dr. Mujkić has been the regional coordinator of "Trauma project" in cooperation with the University of Iowa, the College of Public Health, USA. From 2007 she has been the head of the project "Injury prevention/safety promotion for pre-school children" of the Croatian Ministry of Science, Education and Sport. She is the mother of two sons.
