Abstract


According to modern concept enuresis is multifactorial disorder with strong genetic predisposition, caused by nocturnal polyuria, nocturnal bladder dysfunction and disturbed arousal from sleep. In children who beside enuresis have also diurnal incontinence possible causes of enuresis can be uroinfection and urinary tract anomalies. The article summarizes the present state of knowledge about enuresis. Physiology of voiding and continence, definitions and causes of enuresis and management of children with enuresis are discussed.
