Quality Of Life in Children With Asthma The Frequency And Structure Of The Urinary Tract Anomalies in Infants [Article in Croatian]
Abstract
Improvement in health quality-of-life (HRQoL) has become a key objective in care management of childhood asthma. The aims of this study was to determine the effect of intermittent asthma on HRQoL and to compare it with persistent asthma; to evaluate the effect of concomitant allergic diseases on impairment of HRQoL in asthma, and to compared the QOL scores achieved by children with the views of their parents of the effects of their child’s asthma on family life. Our study shows that children with a mild spectrum of asthma have significant impairment on HRQoL. Children with intermittent and mild persistent asthma frequently have concomitant allergic rhinitis, atopic dermatitis and exercise induced bronchoconstriction that may account for many of their symptoms and impairment of health related quality-of life. Our study showed no correlation between the parents’ QOL scores and the children’s QOL scores, both for total scores and for the subset of the exercise and emocional domain. It is important to recognize that there may be little relationship between the concerns of the child regarding of his or her asthma and the effects on the family as reported by a parent.
